Santiago to Tahiti in a Boeing 767-300ER

LivewireExpress flight 1591 is a very pleasant but long flight that starts off at Arturo Merino Benitez International in Santiago, Chile and finishes at Faaa International in Tahiti. While lengthy, it fortunately passes over several islands to break up the seemingly endless seas.

During pre-flight checks, there was a nice line-up of aircraft at our departure terminal.

Rotate! The taxi from the terminal was short and our takeoff was smooth.

Climbing to our cruise alititude of FL350.

Some time after leaving the coast of Chile behind, I almost missed spotting Isla Robinson Crusoe, which this flight passes straight over.

Sometime later, about mid-flight, we briefly graced the skies above Isla de Pascua and it's airport, Mataveri International.

As we get nearer to Tahiti, we begin to see signs of the Society Archipelago. This little strip of land is the island of Tureia.

And over on our left is the Mururoa atoll.

The moon in the background always makes for nice pictures.

Finally, we catch sight of Tahiti and begin our descent.

Still descending, again we see Tahiti and the island of Moorea, famous for the white beaches of Temae, in the distance.

As we get closer, we can make out some of the topographical details on the southern portion of Tahiti.

I just found this shot of the ocean to be aesthetically pleasing.

We are now on approach at 2,000 ft. MSL into Faaa International.

Off to the right we can see some of the many resort hotels on the island. Unfortunately, I don't get paid enough to stay there. Where's the YMCA!?

On final approach into Faaa, there is a distinct but managable crosswind, left to right. We are actually right on the ILS localizer, although it's hard to tell from this image.

Landing was smooth, taxi was uneventful, and we are treated to some rare ground traffic at the terminal.

I hope you all enjoyed.
